I love love LOVE Pert Near Sandstone. They are a fantastic band and a bunch of really nice guys. I had seen them 2 other times at the Mews, and each time the turnout was less than spectacular. The last time they were here was Superbowl Sunday of this year, and there were only about a dozen of us - but we had a super fun dance party. For this show, I was able to help spread the word and put up a few posters, in hopes more people would be there. Unfortunately, they were competing with Old Crow Medicine Show, playing just down the street at Hoyt Sherman.
The crowd didn't turn out like I had hoped, but it was bigger than times before. They also managed to have a handful of people come to the Mews after the Old Crow show was over. They played a lot of great songs of their own as well as some of my favorite covers. They did a version of Elzic's Farewell that just blew me away. I will go see this band any chance I get!
