Yonder Mountain String Band - 1/26/10 - George's Majestic - Fayetteville, AR

So, maybe it's not a good idea to plan to travel for a show in the dead of winter... in the snowiest January Iowa's had in years.  But, we did.  Since we couldn't see Yonder for New Years like we had planned, we were really needing a show sooner rather than later.  A few weeks ago we just decided to go ahead and see them in Fayetteville, AR, for the Cabin Fever Tour opener.  The first show of 2010.
Unfortunately for us, the night before the show, Des Moines experienced a blizzard... kind of.  We got a little bit of snow, but the wind was gusting at 50mph, which created the blizzard conditions.  I went to bed Monday night, resigned to the fact that we would not be able to go.  In the morning, things weren't looking that good, but we finally just decided to do it.  How would we know if we could make it if we didn't try, right?  Well guess what?  WE MADE IT!  After all the stress of not knowing, the white knuckle driving until the Missouri border, and the rush to get there on time, we made it.  Not only did we make it, we made it at the perfect time, and were first in line.

Starting at the New Years run, the band switched up their stage lineup, which was a neat change.  And Ben also started playing a different bass for a few songs, which was really fun and sounded really great.  It was obvious these guys were ready to get back out there and play some music, and they played a solid show.

My highlights from the night were What You're Selling, Dawn's Early Light>Cuckoo's Nest, Looking Back Over My Shoulder, Sideshow Blues, Loved You Enough, and Big Spike Hammer.  Oh, and Dave's new joke:
"Do you know how to boil toilet paper?  Neither do I, I just know how to brown it on one side."  Ah, poop jokes.

You can now pre-order the show here!
