Greensky Bluegrass w/Mr. Baber's Neighbors @ People's Court 10/21/09

We were so excited to have Greensky Bluegrass come and play in Des Moines for the first time, and we were hoping for a large turnout.  Unfortunately, it was on a Wednesday night and it was cold and rainy outside.  Fortunately, this did not seem to deter either band from playing a great show.

I always enjoy seeing Mr. Baber's Neighbors, and this night their regular banjo player, Paul, could not make it, so they had Jon Eric fill in.  I was excited to see Jon play, since I had become friends with him on Facebook and had seen a few videos.  He fit in really well with the band and they played a lot of great, fast-ass bluegrass songs.  I really enjoyed his technique, and how well he can play triplets!

By the time Greensky Bluegrass got on stage, there were about 50 people there.  Not too many, but better than it looked at the start of the show.  They played 2 great long sets, including Jesus on the Mainline, Pig in a Pen, and a kick-ass version of Pink Floyd's Time.  Even though the turnout wasn't great, they had a fun time and said they were excited to come back again sometime soon.
